The Trolley Museum
An active historic Trolley still patrols the old railway lines directly behind the brick warehouse building. It runs from May until the end of October and if staying during that time, you will hear its signature whistle. The Trolley is run by the Trolley Museum of NY which is a ¼ mile walk to the right up East Strand St.
The Rip van Winkle II
If you spend enough time soaking in the river and lighthouse views, you are bound to see a large, 3-level boat heading out (or back in) from its river tour. The Rondout creek and Hudson River were a huge hub for enterprise and boats are a big part of our local history. The original Rip Van Winkle was built in 1845 as day boat providing tours up to Albany. The predecessor to the Rip-Van Winkle II was MV Rip Van Winkle, which was retired in 2019.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum
Local beer and pizza in midtown. Mostly outdoor seating. Pizza is slightly better at Lola’s but the beer is killer here.

Rondout Lighthouse Tour
The only way to gain access to the lighthouse you see from your patio, is through a private tour run by the Hudson River Martitine Museum on their fully solar powered Solaris.
